Paint Out Retreat
Oct 9, 2008

Retreats are great for renewing the mind, soul and re-energizing.  I was looking at my last post, and I noticed I  shared about clam digging with friends. I have discovered, through networking, I have made awesome friends.  While, by day, we can do business with those we like and trust, we find we can spend our social and "fun" time as friends in our "off" hours.  It gives us an opportunity to share a different side of ourselves away from "the office."

I was invited by client/friend to  go to a 4-day "Paint Out" (Late September) offered through the Northwest Watercolor Society. I was able to eat, paint, go for walks, learn, relax,  sleep and experiment with watercolors, pastels, metallic textures, and acryilics.  There were definitely watercolor purists in the group, and other artists representing realism, figuative, impressionism and abstract styles. Some paint just for fun and self-satisfaction, others are the pros that sell their paintings for a living.  It was a  non-threatening and welcoming experience for all levels of painters/artists.  We were served 3 wonderful meals a day, plus desserts nightly.  We got to stay in little cabins and venture to the modern restrooms by flashlight at night. If you would like more information, check them out.  The Nortwest Watercolor Society is always seeking new members, and attracts artists nationwide.

Clamming, Biking & Friends
Sep 1, 2008

by Rachael Costner

Okay... So it's Labor Day Weekend. This weekend I took time for myself-as I hope you did too. Went clam digging and oyster picking in Quilicene with friends; grilled and savored on Sunday with family, and on Monday, did a 3-hour bike ride around the North tip of Lake Washington (over the I-90 bridge) and accomplished about 27 miles. The bike ride was about the training for an upcoming MS ride. You'll hear more about that later. It was a lot of fun.

The purpose of this blog is mainly to just start. It also sends a message of freindship and connectedness. In our daily work lives, we meet so many people; we never realize if those relationships will be about the job, new business, new friendships, resources, support, casual acquaintances or long-term friends. One discovery you will find about networking is that all of that and more happens. Possibilties are endless. Without my frends and associates, I might have just worked this weekend, but instead...friends came together to get out and have fun! So, since it's is a holiday, I have made this more personal. But come back often. My goal is to feed you with many resources, events, news, tips and just little things that might make your business life, or the daily grind just a little easier. My focus will be on networking, business tips, marketing and media ideas, events and making connections.
